Asynchronous Half-Duplex Communication
To have a PC in charge of controlling a given process in long-haul data acquisition and control applications, this converter allows you to interface your devices using an RS232 communication link to an RS485 link and vice-versa.
Double Protection
A built-in transient voltage suppressor (TVS) enables you to get double 600W lightning surge protection against the lightning strike over the RS485 link, and 15KV static protection over the RS232 link effectively protecting your valuable devices against high voltage spikes. Simple Operation
ADDC (Automatic Data Direction Control) function can detect the incoming or outgoing data and automatically switch into the send or receive mode, then you don’t have to worry about data collision problems.
For the RS485 2 wire system, it only requires three lines (RX, TX and GND) to get an RS232 to RS485 conversion, making it great for troubleshooting the serial system, fully plug and play.
Up to 32 devices can be connected to one network to communicate over a single pair of wires (plus a ground wire), so multiple RS485 devices could be connected to one PC without a repeater.
Note – To avoid reflections on longer cables it is necessary to use appropriate termination resistors (120Ω,1/4W).
